Koji Shiroshita & Mifuku will be joined by architect Masahiko Inoue (Marginalio Inc.), who designed the FabCafe Osaka interior, and Kazuto Kojima, FabCafe Osaka’s director, to discuss sustainable spatial value and the ignition point of creativity.

FabCafe Osaka is an experimental space inspired by “L’Informe” – beauty beyond fixed form.
Once an auto repair garage, the space was revived by architect Masahiko Inoue under the concept of “preserving traces without erasing them.”
In this exhibition, the XR drawings by Koji Shiroshita & Mifuku align with that vision—layering traces of oil stains, concrete damage, and rust with present-day visuals.
Visitors, wearing VR headsets, are invited to walk between past and present—“walking through layers of time.”
As real-world textures meet virtual imagery and environmental sounds, memories of the city re-emerge as new stories.

Background of the Work
FabCafe Osaka opened in April 2025 in a renovated space that once served as an auto repair garage.
In December 2024, before renovations began, Koji Shiroshita & Mifuku started creating “Drawing on Space” using VR technology, treating the space itself as a canvas.
The resulting 3D drawings reflect architectural features such as underground maintenance pits and physical traces like worn concrete floors, paint-encrusted washbasins, and rusted shutters.
Field-recorded environmental sounds from the site were also incorporated.
Inspired by Osaka’s past as a submerged landscape, AI-generated imagery of the Yodo River as it may have looked tens of thousands of years ago was included.
Through the headset, these immaterial VR drawings acquire a painterly presence as they embody multilayered site memory.

Artist Profile
Koji Shiroshita & Mifuku
Formed in 2023, this Kyoto-based artist collective explores the future of visual art through the fusion of fine art and technology.
In “Drawing on Space,” Shiroshita performs the drawing, breaking free from traditional two-dimensional constraints with new spatial and bodily gestures.
Mifuku restructures the drawings into XR installations.
Winners of the 2025 NEWVIEW AWARDS Jury President’s Prize (Naohiro Ukawa Award).
